Blocs Wave: Record Music Live App Reviews

On iPad 3. Please introduce some kind of latency handling. Still so, its pretty unusable.

My iPhone 5s burns like an owen when I use this app, it works fine but uses a lot of CPU..Loopy its much more better for my musical approach, heres no syncing or Bluetooth external speaker support, youve been warned.

I usually dont like apps like this: very simple, fee features, clearly geared towards prime time sales. But, this apps ability to import/export audio, slip the start of loops back and forth, and now to turn all loops into chopped samples that can make small recorded new loops, makes this a powerhouse that is simple and easy to use. Needs fx, more mixing options, and ability to copy/paste custom made clips from chopped samples. Hopefully Novation will keep updating at the pace theyve been at lately.

Tics all the right boxes and has become a cornerstone of my noisemaking in iOS. Universal, easy to get sounds into and out of it, Link support. Very active devs on forums, communicating with users and quickly improving on an already very good app. Im not a pro musician, just an amateur, but can make some nice tunes in my iPad AND iPhone out of this, coupled with other apps all synced via Link and hosted in AUM: iElectribe, Model 15, etc. Different from some other loop players, Blocs actually invites you to mix your own samples and recordings with the stock sounds, and to slice and play with their soundwaves creating your own unique results. Very highly recommended. Thanks for this!

update -slice function adds alot more fun!! got some great results by using auto button and assigning loops in ays i would have never thought of.. when adjusting loop length the volume slide keeps getting adjusted accidentally since it is so close. import of my loops works great i wash there was a way to edit pitch of sample.. lots of fun and totally different from most other apps in that it is very simple to get great usable results very fast ...

The tools are not as powerful as I expected. The sound quality is pretty low, everything sounds muddy.

This app is very limited in its functionality. If I knew now what I know about the app i wouldn’t have purchased it. Just use Garageband.

Doesnt output audio to Bluetooth... AirPlay only offers iPad & AppleTV as output possibilities even though my BT speaker is showing as "Connected" under Settings/Bluetooth. Had this same problem with Moogs Model 15. I contacted their support and they fixed the issue in their next update the very next day. This issue cant be that difficult to address. Pretty basic & lamentable lack of functionality.

Im completely rewriting my review and adding a star because of all the new features that have been added to this app since its release. It is fast becoming a pro level tool and the devs have added everything on my wish list except for one thing. This app still needs IAA support so that FX can be used to augment the samples. As soon as we have FX, this app will get 5 stars.

So I have 4 Blocs running with Ableton Link to sync them! No Wow! This is like a looper with more ability to edit each part and more. Each part can be changed on the fly to almost anything. With 1 iPad I play lead with Novation LaunchKey a match made in Haven. Recording you vocals with bloc is so easy. I almost dont want to let the cat out of the bag now everyone will be making better Music. I. Going right now to jam on Bloc! This app is the best iPad app hands down!

They have done something exceptional here - a sample looper that not only pitch shifts and time stretches your loops beautifully well but also has a simple, easy to learn interface. Very musical and lots of fun. Im using it Linked with AUM and having a blast. It sounds great and doesnt eat up my iPads processor leaving plenty of resources free to launch my favorite effect apps or synths to run alongside it.

None better,unending possibilities and fun to boot.each time I use it new creations appear and Im a real sax and keyboard player and I am enjoying loops and slices.lol

This app is a loop arranging dream, with both rock solid packs and the ability to upload and tweak your own loops. Grab little sections to re-energize your beats, slice and slip functions, drop loops in and out, with more features on the way. Sync perfectly using Ableton Link with your drum machines, effects and synths. Top notch app support too.

This app is dope! Ive already made some remixes with it, but Id like one thing to make it perfect, make it like launchpad so when I mute or unmute a bloc it waits for the bar sync like launchpad and this is a five star all day! Well worth it!

I dont need the iap sounds, but I bought them to support further development. What Id like to see is the ability to *only* browse imported sounds with an interface like the stock and IAP sounds. Also, pitch, fx, and panning per slice would be nice. Hats off to the developers.

This is a completely unique app. It allows you to put together an 8-part track with up to eight loops which can be selected at random from the loops in the app, in-app purchases, loops you load from your collection, or loops you play into it. The developer has added huge features to this app practically every week, including a fun "slicer" feature. DONT PAY ATTENTION TO BAD REVIEWS. If you read them you will see they are talking about how the app lacks features that it now has. It may have twice as many features by the time you read this. Buy it!

This app has increased in usefulness and enjoyability many times over with the latest updates. The dev team is very responsive and committed to making this a great tool. Loops are good to great, but custom loops really take this over the top. In regards to some of the low ratings, I would recommend people research any music app at the forum at audiob.us, which has the best group of musicians/hobbiests that Ive found. You can get most any question you have with any music app answered there.

The app allows you to import your own loops and add information about them so you can easily combine it with your other loops or loops that come with the app or via IAP. The ability to slice up loops and randomize playback of the sliced loops is great. Works well via IAA or Audiobus and has Link too. Being able to organize and adjust loops via the apps tools facilitates composition. With each new update, significant new features are being added.

This is an absolutely beautiful app, not only from a usability perspective but from a music-making perspective. Novation have made it possible to easily create and import loops, then seamlessly audition and play those loops as part of a larger composition. A huge benefit is being able to change the key and tempo on the fly. Blocs has become part of my go-to apps now and it is quickly collecting many of my own loops from my Novation hardware.
